Children’s Program Coordinator

Wahbung Abinoonjiiag Inc.  provides domestic violence healing through cultural teachings and a therapeutic process.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Children’s Program Coordinator will work with the Women’s and Youth program coordinators and is responsible for program development, delivery and evaluation of a children’s program for children aged 0-6.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or certification in related field or an acceptable combination of education and work experience
  • Experience working with Aboriginal children, youth, women and families who have been victims of family violence
  • Experience in program facilitation and coordination
  • Previous experience with family assessments and counseling skills in the area of family violence
  • Experience working with children who have been traumatized
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal history, culture and traditional teachings
  • Knowledge of attachment in children and child development
  • Knowledge  and experience working with the stages of change Model
  • Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills
  • Suicide  intervention skills
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Good computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle is an asset

Preference will be given to individuals that self-identify as Aboriginal, First Nations, Métis, or Inuit.
