This program is designed for 0-6 years of age to develop healthy parent-child relationship through the use of play. Children who have witnessed or experienced family violence need to develop a trusting relationship before they feel safe enough to disclose their feelings about family violence.
The Tiny Tots and Moms program strengthens families’ social skills, emotional and mental competencies, such as understanding and communicating feelings, using effective problem solving strategies, managing anger, practicing friendship and conversational skills, as well as appropriate cultural behaviours. The Tiny Tots and Moms’ Program incorporates attachment and trauma theories and includes:
Making new friends and learning violence free behaviours
Understanding and detecting feelings
Problem solving skills
Encouraged play between Mom and child(ren)
Improved parenting skills
Strengthening attachments that have been damaged by family violence situations
Increased knowledge and awareness of cultural identity
Healthy child development
